Adjust the handlebars of a maxitrail motorcycle to do off-road

April 10, 2023

To adjust the handlebars of a maxitrail motorcycle for off-roading, follow these steps:

Adjust the handlebars of a maxitrail motorcycle to do off-road

Choose a suitable handlebar

If you haven't already, choose an off-road-specific handlebar designed for greater control and strength. Double-walled aluminum bars are a good option for this type of riding.

Make sure you have the right tools: You'll need an Allen key or socket wrench of the correct size for the bolts that hold the handlebar to the post.

Loosen the fixing bolts

Loosen the bolts that hold the handlebar to the post. You don't need to remove them completely, just enough so that you can move the handlebars.

Adjust the tilt of the handlebar

Tilt the handlebar forward or backward until you find the most comfortable position for you. For off-road use, you may prefer a more upright position that allows you better control of the bike when standing on the footpegs.

Adjust the position of the grips and levers

With the handlebars in the desired position, adjust the grips and brake and clutch levers to the most comfortable position for you. Make sure you can easily access the controls without overextending your arms or hands.

Check handlebar alignment

Make sure the handlebars are in line with the front wheel. If necessary, make additional adjustments to ensure proper alignment.

Tighten the Clamp Bolts: Once you are happy with the position of the handlebars, tighten the clamp bolts evenly and securely. Do not overtighten as this can damage the handlebars or bike components.

Check the tension of cables and lines

Make sure the brake and clutch cables and lines are not too tight or have too much slack in the new handlebar position. If necessary, adjust the length of cables or lines to ensure proper operation.

Take a test drive

With everything adjusted, take a test ride in a safe environment to ensure that the new handlebar position is comfortable and functional.

Remember that the ideal position of the handlebars can vary according to your personal preferences and your riding style. Feel free to make additional adjustments as necessary to find the most comfortable and effective position for you.
